Some diseases like Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Myasthenia Gravis (MG) are very hard to cure. The usual treatments use medicines like glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants, but these cannot completely stop the harmful antibodies that cause the disease because they don’t remove the special plasma cells making these antibodies.
CD19+BCMA CAR-T therapy is a new treatment that targets the “root” of the problem. It uses modified immune cells called CAR-T cells that find and kill both B cells and plasma cells which produce the bad antibodies.
This therapy helps by removing the source of the disease, giving patients a chance for longer-lasting improvement.
